Hey!

January 31, 2010 Leave a comment

Hello everyone,
First let me introduce myself, my name is BlahBlah and I’m going to be writing under the name zmajor, just so I can stay anonymous .
First off let me start by saying I’m a gamer, I’ve always been a gamer. Ever since I was able to hold a controller I’ve been gaming. But lets get one thing straight, I’m not overly obsessed nor am I a psychopath, that the public so easily label us gamers as. My life doesn’t revolve around gaming, I find time to game when I’m not working or in school. I consider myself a core gamer, and gaming to me is just a hobby.

I’ve owned many consoles in the past  from Sega genesis, Nintendo64 , GameCube, PS2 to the 360 and PS3 which I currently own right now. Gaming is just another form of entertainment, just like movies and music, and in my opinion it’s the best form of entertainment yet.

This is a site where I’m going to write articles and blogs of my daily life (gaming related of course). If you like my articles please comment and give feedback. I will definitely reply.

End this console flamewar, there is another war that needs fighting.

January 31, 2010 2 comments

I’m tired of these flame wars. Which console is better? Which game is better?
We are too busy trying to kill each other to understand that there are people who are joining forces to bring gaming down. But we gamers can’t put up a good fight because we are too busy fighting amongst each other. Mothers against gaming sound familiar? No right, we gamers don’t know what that is because  we are too busy fighting a civil war(Just Google it you’ll find out).Ever heard of divide and conquer? Well that’s what’s happening  here.

when there is a sex scene in gaming, that contains no nudity. People are up in arms trying to shoot it down. Movies have more naked sex scenes than gaming has violence, thats saying something.

Let’s get one thing straight there can never be a clear winner in this console war. Because everyone has different tastes.  Just like when you go to the restaurant with your girl friend, and she orders wine and you order a beer, are you going to start a fight with her on what’s better?

There are people who say “there are better games on this console than the other”. Well what decides a better game? reviews do, and who gives these games reviews? People like you and me, and there is biased to be had. If they like one game more than the other they wll score it higher, but that doesn’t mean you will share that same opinion. No matter how much people said Street fighter was good, I couldn’t come to like it. I thought the single player was too cheap. Hey that’s just my opinion don’t kill me over it. My friend will tell me how great Metroid prime is but he doesn’t have the game or has he played it, because he hates first person shooters.

We gamers should stick together, because all three consoles and the pc have great games. You should choose a system that offers the type of games you like and the form of entertainment you want. Do you like watching blu-ray movies? Then get the ps3. Do you like digital copies of your movies? Then get the 360 and subscribe to Netflix. Whatever the case may be, gaming is great on any platform. I currently own  a Ps3 and 360. I never bought a Wii because those games don’t appeal to me. But I can understand how great Mario galaxy and Zelda are, hey they did win Game of the year one year after the other.

Do you gamers understand the fight we are in? Do you understand what is at stake? Do you understand a war is coming? Just look what’s happening now: our fellow gamers around the world are being stripped of their gaming rights. Germany bans so many games every year, and Australia is trying to jump on that same boat. We are being attacked in every corner. We need to band together and fight these Mother*ckers. What’ya say?

Top 5 reasons: why gaming is the #1 form of entertainment.

January 30, 2010 5 comments

Gaming is often looked at as the bastard child of the entertainment industry. Often look downed upon by the majority. People will find any excuse to make gaming negative. Bunch of haters if you ask me.

But just take a look back at history; the greatest things in life had the most haters. Why do you think so many people hate Canada, yeah I said it. Gaming has a lot of haters, that’s saying something. That’s just contrasting at how great this form of entertainment really is.

Here are top 5 reasons why gaming is the best form of entertainment:

5. Type of bonding

Is there any bonding when watching a movie? No. You and your friends, family or strangers just sit in the same room whether in theatres or at home, just staring at the screen. While gaming, you are talking smack, laughing, jumping out of excitement, giving high-fives and sometimes raging in anger and starting a real fight (okay just forget about the last one). But the great thing is whether fighting or celebrating it’s you interacting with a real person. Whether its your friend , dad, brother, or son it creates some great memories which you can cherish, You can even cherish this with complete strangers thanks to the new gaming consoles online modes, speaking of strangers…

4.Community

Where else are you going to interact with strangers from across the world, in stuff you share the same interest in. Canyou watch a movie while connected to strangers that have mic s’ over a network system? No. Because only gaming offers that. You can ask a person living in Uganda what’s the weather outside, or join forces with someone in Japan to defeat aliens trying to take over the world. Hey you can even discover stuff about your family over the networks like how many 12 year olds your moms been with in England and Germany.
3.Value

You buy a movie for $25 you get 2-3 hours, hey some movies are even less than that. You buy a game like Fallout 3 for $69.99 (CDN) and you get more than 100 hours of gameplay. But let’s be fair not all games are 100 hours. But the games that aren’t long make it up with multiplayer. Multiplayer can last you 100+ hours, no lie. If you don’t know how well online gaming is see #4.
2. Variety

There are a variety of consoles in the market. There are variety of ways of playing it aswell. With a controller, with motion sensing or with a wave of the hand ( natal) you can experience the same game different ways. But that’s outside the game, inside a game you can tackle it in many different ways, which ups the replay value, see #3 again. Do you want to beat Metal Gear Solid 4 by shooting your way through? How about sneaking? In First person? Third person? Only gaming offers you the ability to play in many different ways you see fit. How do you want to watch Twilight? With your eyes closed or open?
1. The Experience

Do you want to be a general of an army and conduct strategic attacks? Do you want to survive an onslaught of zombies with a baseball bat? Do you want to shoot aliens with alien weapons? Do you want to drive a jet, speedboat,  jet ski, car, or a  pony? Do you want to play basketball, soccer, football, hockey, baseball while controlling your favourite athletes?  Well you can do all this and more through gaming. If I start listing what can be done I won’t get a chance to sleep for a couple of days. Gaming gives you feedback, whether your controller shakes acknowledging you that you blew up the right building, or someone yelling at you through the speakers, telling you how much you “f*cked up” whatever the case, at least you know YOU did it. When watching a movie you can’t help that cute girl who is being eaten by a zombie, all you can do is sit and watch.

Hey Don’t get me wrong, movies are great, but games are better. J

Honourable mentions:
Boring Factor
when’s the last time you fell asleep playing a game? How about a movie? Exactly
Even bad games aren’t boring because you’re actually doing something. Bad movies on the other hand are a great way to beat that insomnia you’re having.

Please leave a comment, negative feedbacks are welcome too.
